Stoneway House – Potential Sale of Fishing Rights

The owners of Stoneway House also own the fishing rights relating to a stretch of the west bank of the River Monnow - a tributary of the River Wye from which Monmouth is named.  The Monnow is a particularly clean river as it avoids industrial sites or centres of population until it reaches the Wye at Monmouth.

The fishing rights relate to the west (right) bank of the Monnow just upstream of the Osbaston weir which is about 1Km  north of the Monnow’s confluence with the River Wye at Monmouth. The Osbaston weir was recently renovated; this work included the reinstatement of a fish ladder about a year ago.  We understand the Monnow offers  Trout, Salmon and coarse fishing but do please check for yourself.

For further information as to the fishing conditions on the Monnow we suggest you view the Monnow Fisheries Association website www.monnow.org  This thriving Association produces a useful newsletter: the Monnow Monitor.

Please note that the stretch of fishing is not attached to Stoneway House but is approximately 20 minutes drive away.  The owners would be prepared to sell these fishing rights to a purchaser of Stoneway House as a separate transaction.   Should the purchaser of Stoneway House not require these rights then the intention is that they would be sold separately.
